Frequently asked questions
What is an EMI?
An Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) is the fixed amount you pay your lender every month. Each EMI covers that month's interest plus a slice of the principal, so the loan is fully repaid by the end of the tenure.
Is the EMI shown here exactly what my bank will charge?
It uses the same reducing-balance formula banks use, so it matches to the rupee for a fixed rate. Your bank's figure can differ slightly if it rounds EMIs, charges broken-period interest for the first month, or bundles insurance into the loan.
Does a longer tenure save money?
No. A longer tenure lowers the monthly EMI but increases the total interest you pay, often by a lot. Pick the shortest tenure whose EMI still fits comfortably in your budget.
